Abstract |
Photocopies of State Inventory Forms, sometimes accompanied by clippings or other background information, completed during a 1976 survey, sponsored by the El Paso County Land Use Department, of potentially historic sites and structures within El Paso County, Colorado. The inventory forms were compiled by David Barber, Elaine Freed, and Andrew Gulliford and generally include site name, address, owner, physical description, and information about its significance. The final product of this survey was Elaine Freed and David Barber's book Historic Sites and Structures, El Paso County, Colorado, but the research files contain information not available in the publication. |

Though the papers were removed from three-ring binders and placed into acid-free folders during processing, the original order of the materials has been maintained. Records are arranged by geographical location: High Plains, the Divide, Palmer Lake, Monument, the United States Air Force Academy, Woodmen Valley, Ute Pass, Cascade, Manitou Springs, Ivywild, Cheyenne Canyon, Broadmoor and Glen Park. Within geographical location, materials are further divided by specific site. The majority of the sites were assigned a letter and number combination by the authors. An index to the individual sites is included with this finding aid. Photographs and negatives from this collection have been moved to the Photo Archives at the Pikes Peak Library District.
