Abstract |
Correspondence from Pulitzer Prize winning author Conrad Richter to Colorado Springs resident John Cameron Gardner, Jr. Topics include Richter's novels, time spent in California and New Mexico, writing in general, the stock market, health, religion, and Richter's family. John Gardner and Conrad Richter likely met when they both lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late 1920s. Conrad Richter died in 1968 and letters in the collection from the 1970s were written by Richter's daughter. |

Correspondence was placed in chronological order by Nancy Thaler in 1999. This finding aid was written by Donna McCrea in 2003.

This collection was donated to the Pikes Peak Library District by John C. Gardner’s wife, June Pauline Gardner, in 1999. In March 2003, nine books inscribed by Richter to Gardner were added to the collection.
