Robert Livermore was a mining engineer and executive who worked in Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Arizona; Baja California and Durango (Mexico); and Ontario and British Columbia (Canada). The collection contains copies of Livermore’s autobiography and diaries (1915-1937); a few business records and publications; and photographs spanning Livermore’s career from the 1890s to the 1930s.

The documents in this collection were generated by the Albuquerque and Cerrillos Coal Company between 1880 and 1954. The mine operated out of Madrid, New Mexico, a small company town located east of the Sandia Mountains in southern Santa Fe County. Records cover a variety of topics, including workman's compensation, finances, mining operations, and information on the various social activities in the town of Madrid.

The Homestake Mining Company records include information such as drill logs, assays, and maps about mine sites and mining activities in the Rocky Mountain Region including the states of Wyoming and South Dakota. The bulk of the information relates to uranium mining in Wyoming from 1952 to 1989. There is a small amount of corporate documents and company history including annual reports and photographs of the Black Hills mining operations.

Frank A. Crampton was a mining engineer who worked in western mining in the first half of the twentieth century. He later worked as a water resource engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation in California. He spent 1952-1953 in Korea as a mining advisor to help with the rebuilding of South Korea. Arthur J. Theis worked for Anaconda Mining Company as a field exploration engineer in the 1940s and early 1950s. He also owned and operated several of his own gold mines during this period. This collection contains his correspondence with associates in gold mining and his business partners and mine operators.
