Biography / History

The purpose of the Colorado Springs Symphony Guild was to support the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra (now called the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra) through education and service projects. Fundraising events included a Holiday Home Tour, an Epicurean Delights event, and a Tournament of Tables. The group was originally a women’s organization. Today, the group is called the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Guild; they support the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra and the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Young Artists Solo Competition scholarship program.

Scope and Content

The Colorado Springs Symphony Guild Records date 1954-2008 and consist of four series: Business Records, Financial Records, Fundraising Events, and Scrapbooks.

The Business Records series is comprised of three subseries: General Records, Annual Histories, and President’s Books. The General Records date 1967-1984 and include annual reports, by-laws, and meeting minutes. This subseries is arranged alphabetically. The Annual Histories are arranged chronologically and date 1954-2004. The histories include correspondence and information on members and events. Photographs from this subseries are located in the Photo Archives. The President’s Books range from 2000-2008 and are arranged chronologically. Information in these records were collected by the acting president and include correspondence, financial information, calendars, and meeting minutes.

There are three subseries in the Financial Records: Financial Statements, Treasurer’s Records, and Vouchers & Receipts. All subseries are arranged chronologically and are dated 1976-2001.

The Fundraising Events series is arranged alphabetically and dates 1964-2004. Events include Epicurean Delights, Holiday Home Tour, the Symphony Ball, and Tournament of Tables.

There are 4 Scrapbooks in this collection; they range from 1986-2006.
