Collection acquired by educator and historian Francisco Sisneros. How or why these
materials were originally collected is unknown but most relate to Pueblo land and
boarding school issues.
This collection contains transcriptions and translations of colonial period documents
related to Pueblo and Spanish land issues and interactions between Pueblo leaders
and Spanish officials. The territorial period documents are mostly original letters
to and from officials from the Indian School in Santa Fe, Zuni boarding school,

U.S. Indian Industrial School in Santa Fe and have information about students
(arrivals and departures) and daily school operation.
Arrangement: Chronological by date within historical period or series. Organized into
three series: Spanish Colonial Period Documents; U.S. Territorial Period &
