Brian E. Lebowitz graduated from Amherst College in 1972, summa cum laude, and
received a PhD in economics from Yale University in 1977. He received his JD in 1980
from Stanford Law School. He has practiced tax law since then representing
corporations in both international and tax matters. He has published articles in the
area of transfer pricing and other law topics where law and economics
intersect.(1)
With an interest in Judaica and a love of used books and bookstores, he has collected
more than 19,000 works of 20th century Jewish-American literature. In November, 2009
Mr. Lebowitz donated his collection to the University of Colorado, Boulder,
University Libraries, thus creating the Brian E. Lebowitz Collection of 20th Century
Jewish-American Literature. He has also provided for ongoing purchases of relevant
books for this collection.(2)
