Abstract The Margaret L. Buxton Genealogy Collection consists of research notes, lineage charts, articles, and handwritten index cards created and complied while Buxton conducted research (1628-1994) of the New Mexican family Lucero de Godoi. Additionally there are genealogy research notes on numerous Spanish lineage New Mexican families produced by Buxton while assisting others in their family ancestry search.

Biography

Margaret Buxton was a lifelong resident of New Mexico, noted published genealogist, and long-time volunteer at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints family history center. She specialized in Hispanic genealogy and was active in the New Mexico Archeological Association as well as the Hispanic Genealogical Research Center and the New Mexico Genealogical Society.


Scope and Content

The Buxton Collection is organized into three series. Series I. File folders, which include 451 folders, separated into 25 archival boxes. Series II. Index cards in shoeboxes totaling 13 boxes. Series III. Index cards in small metal cabinet. (These cards are marked for microfilming).
