The collection is divided into thirteen subgroups including: General Records, Bosler JP record, Cummings JP records, Douglas JP records, Downing JP records, Laramie JP records, Laramie JP Precint 1 records, Laramie JP Precinct 2 records, Laramie JP Precinct 3 records, Mountain View JP records, Rock River JP records, Sherman JP records, Albany County Court records, and Rock Creek JP records
Case files, dockets, and administrative records filed with the Albany County Justice of the Peace and County Courts ranging from criminal, civil court records to marriage records and coroner’s inquests. Cases heard by the Justice of the Peace Courts involved misdemeanor charges. Felony cases were either dismissed or bound over to the County District Court. Cases heard by the County Courts could involve either misdemeanor or low-level felony charges.
There are no access restrictions on the materials for research purposes, and the collection is open to the public.
