Biography of Gordon Ackerman

Gordon Ackerman was a magazine and broadcast journalist. He went to Europe in 1957 as a correspondent and editor for United Press International. He worked for CBS News in Paris, helping to produce radio and television programs. In 1959 he joined the Paris bureau of Time-Life and wrote for many of the company’s publications. Ackerman was also a photographer.


Scope and Content

The collection contains articles and manuscripts of some of the stories reported by Gordon Ackerman while living in France. Included are an ABC News broadcast covering the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989; a report on the 1960 Agadir, Morocco, earthquake; articles on violence in Algeria in 1962; articles about France; and articles about sports and photography.
